Bag for Rolleiflex plus slr and lenses

Yet another "what-kind-of-camera-bag-should=I-buy" thread. However, my needs are specific.

What I need is a bag that fits a Rolleiflex and a 35mm camera ( either Nikon FM3a or Bessa R4 ) plus two extra lenses ( although I could get away with only carrying one extra lens ). I'd also like to be able to carry a light meter and my wallet. I need the bag to be padded, and I'd like to keep it as small possible, but it doesn't have to be tiny ( nor would it be, carrying all that gear ). The other criteria is that it has to fit under the seat of a typical airplane, as I'll be using it primarily when I travel.

I do have a couple of bags, but neither one fits the bill, so to speak. If anyone has any suggestions, I'm all ears.

The Crumpler 7 Million Dollar Home bag would do this nicely. I have one and like it a lot.

Crumpler also has a 6 Million Dollar Home bag that is smaller, but you could probably squeeze all of that gear and wallet in. It would be tight, though.
 
I have a similar set up (Rolleiflex, M4 + 35/1.2 and 50/1.5, and a Hexar AF) and the Billingham Hadley Pro fits it all perfectly, so any messenger style bag that can fit a 13" laptop will be fine. You could consider a Think Tank Airport Antidote 2.0 since you'll mostly use it for travel.

Domke 802 or 803?

I went bag-shopping, and naturally didn't see anything that fits the bill, so to speak.

After looking through more threads, I've been wondering if the Domke J-803 or F-802 would work? Also looking into the Incognito. My main concern ( after being able to fit in the above-mentioned gear ) is that it's not too big and bulky to walk around with.

Can anyone tell me how the Domkes or Incognito feels to walk around with? Ease of use, comfort, etc. ? I prefer bags that you can easily walk around town with, that aren't that wide and bulky ( I know - who doesn't? ). Any input is appreciated.

I'd still like it to have padding all around, and will never really need it to fit a laptop. C'mon - I shoot all film - I'd never be caught with a laptop! 😉
 
The Hadley has padding all around. As for laptop slots, I don't use them either (in fact I use it to store documents) but they're a good indicator for the size of a bag. Have a look at Think Tank's Retrospective bags too, I liken them to modern Domkes plus they aren't as attention grabbing as a Billingham.

I carry a similar setup in a Billingham Pro, however if your Rollei has a meter, you'll run into trouble.
All bets are off if you're carrying a CV 35/1.2 and 50/1.1 🙂
You can probably add a third lens (and maybe more) if you pack your 35mm body without a lens.
 
OK, the Hadley looks nice, but is a little too "Brooks Brothers" looking for me. And it's rather on the high side, price-wise.

I have a Domke F-803. With divider in middle you end up with three square slots. Rolleiflex fits almost exactly into one. FM2 with a 50mm 1.8 just about fits into another slot, leaving one slot free for another modest sized lens.
Rolleiflex with two M bodies each with lenses attached works too (along with light meter, some filters etc). Fine for bringing stuff travelling when you aren't on your feet all the time. However if walking around would just bring two of those camera bodies, as you do notice the difference in weight. It's not bulky at all though in either case.

If you don't have it overloaded it's comfortable for long periods. Different story when you have it weighed down - you really start to notice it on the shoulders after a short time - a rucksack is a better solution in that case.

Smaller pockets handy for note book and pen etc. Open slot at back good for a grey card (fits an iPad too).
 
I still have an old Domke f2, easily holds Rolleiflex, meter, 35mm and a couple lenses. Easy bag to work out of.

I also have a f-5xb which will fit Rollei and rangefinder with smallish lense and meter. It's a little tighter, but it's my preferred walking around bag.

I use Domke bags, and also have used my old F-2 to carry the Rolleiflex and Leica M + lenses. Room for other stuff too. I have two Safrotto bags; one is a copy of the F-803 and the other of the F-802. I wouldn't use the 803 - too tight. The 802 type bag though is a satchel design that will easily take two Rolleis and a 35mm cam + lenses. It's tall and you could actually carry the Rolleis with the top open. You might want to take a look at the F-802 or the Safrotto equivalent which is a much better bag.
