the 7 is near perfect...i use the 5 more because i don't carry much gear at once. i also have a 10 that acts as storage these days.
the 7 is nice if you have the full size ipad as it has a separate compartment on the outside of the bag which i prefer...the ipad mini now fits in the 5 nicely as well.

FIXING THE TOO DEEP PROBLEM...which is far more secure than the too shallow problem.
Cut some lightweight foam blocks to put below the gear. Too deep problem solved. Or, as I do with some bags if there is velcro in the right places, I use small bag dividers to separate the tall compartments. Stuff I don't need quickly in the bottom. Stuff I do need quickly in the top.
Next question?

That space, under the cameras is in reality full of film ... well in any sane reality that is

Recently purchased a Event Messenger 100 and really like it for Leica stuff. I would take one camera and light meter, the camera with a 50mm lens (the case would hold two or a camera with a 90mm lens. A zipper pocket for film and other stuff. I really like this feature as it has a fold over covering the top and front that has two ways to secure, either with velcro or a clip which is more secure.
Made a trip recently with my wife to Hawaii (our 35th anniversary) and used 18 rolls of B&W film. Each venture I took with me 3 or 4 rolls 36 exposures each and left the rest in our cabin.
Fits easily in the area on the floor in front of seat on an airplane with plenty or room for my feet.
Hope this helps you!

Let me point your attention also to the Messenger collection of Tenba. For smaller cameras like RFs I use the Laptop/Messenger bags (with and without laptop). The specs should fit your requirements, especially the large one (see pictures).

It's always nice to see what people use and ,beside me having unthinkable problems making my choice, I really like this thread and find it entertaining.
thank you very much for giving me a great time on the forums here.
still.. any opinion on the Leica Billingham Combination Bag?
Cheers

My NookHD+ is almost as large as an iPad, and the 7 looks like it would hold a pair of rangefinders or a small SLR. Not suree I like the blue, but it does come in other colors.

I don't use dedicated camera bags. Backpacks and messenger bags with inserts are a better solution.

I am 90% certain a Bare Bones Bag is in my immediate future. I like a bag that conforms to my body. Are there alternatives?

if ure a taller person the billingham hadleys work out quite fell at that point
wow I'm giving advice in my own thread...
so far the choice is now between:
A&A ACAM 7000
Thinktank retrospective 7/10
Billingham Hadley Small/Pro
bare bones bag, black label bag and domke are far too complicated to order. domke prices here skyrocket through the roof.
also looked into crumplers, these seem to be nice too, especially for the price.
gave up on the idea of the leica billingham one. just looks too much like an expensive camera bag. guess even if I had it I'd be worried to take it on a trip abroad, so no sense in getting it. guess it was just the wish to own it:bang:
thanks to all the help, especially to back alley for the comparison shots. those helped a lot with thinktank

Hmmmm I have never seen or heard about Think Tank bags
I had a hand at designing a Fogg bag and a Coach bag
I think the Hubba Hubba might be a great bag for rangefinder shooters
I will order one for myself to check out

genius and moron
The Tenba Messenger bags are huge - a buddy of mine uses one for an XPAN, Hasselblad 500, a Contax G2 w/2 lenses and a DSLR. The thing would stun an ox.
I tried a Thinktank bag and found it much stiffer than I liked. It hung there like a cooler not a bag. Did you get one from me Joe? I might have returned it.
The Bare Bones Bag is good, if a touch small for me- tho I carry it often these days. Note that without the velcro it won't stay shut. The newer BBB version with padding is tiny. Better suited to a Fuji X system than an M system, and impossible for a Rollei.
I used the Leica (Billingham) briefly, couldn't deal with those closures at all. A weighted top flap is my favorite. I've been toying with having a bag made. I have a brother-in-law who has a high-end motorcycle company and they have small runs made of bags through a little shop in Brooklyn that can make anything it seems. Perfect would be my A&A bag with some less padded insides (like the BBB) and a flap over the rear pocket. Oh, and a few dedicated slots for sharpies.
