Need something small for an M9 with attached 35 and another lens. The size of Domke F-XA is just about right but I'm not that into the zipper in the middle and the overly loud/sticky velcro.

Anyone know of a bag that size with that level of stealth/lack of extras that has a different entry/closure system?

I felt exactly the same way. Great little bag with a horrible zipper.
So I cut the zipper off and sewed a button and string closure.
Works great.
When I am city treking, this the bag.
.
(I don't expect this to become a new trend :D )

Its hard to beat the bags from Billingham. No velcro (quiet), waterproof and great padding/organization.

I carry my M-E with attached 35 Lux along with my 75 Cron in the Hadley Small. If I need to take more stuff its the Hadley Pro.

The Billinghams are much more of a bag in every way- build, weight, price and overall fancy-ness.

I'm looking for a very small, simple bag with a belt loop as I want to use for hiking as well.

My dream would be the size of the Domke with the zipper around the edge or no zipper and a magnetic catch. Think Tank makes one like this but it's a bit more bulky than I'd like:

Not so much the zippers scratching that bothers me as much as the way the flaps block entry to the bag. I prefer a more open top with no zippers or zippers around the edge. Totally silly and picky, but it just works better for me.

not as small as the 5xa but olympus has a nice cheap bag that might work for you...no velcro and a neat little trick closure...i'll see if i can find it online again.

Thanks for finding that. Probably too big for my needs but might work for others.

Looks like the f-5xa is probably the only game in town for this size minimalist bag.

If the Domke F5XA is the "perfect bag but..." simply modify it to suit you.
For a few dollars a tailor could neatly remove the zipper and half the Velcro.

I have the Domke bag you mention and dislike it for the same reasons.
I wound up with a used Ona bowery which works well and is a quality made item. The one I have is leather and the workmanship is outstanding.
