How do you like Lithuania and Latvia? I found them flat, boring and expensive (sorry, Boris). Loved Estonia, though. And I've always liked Poland (been there many times).

Cheers,

R.

concenrning benelux, germany, danemark, it is not that far away from Paris so I will mainly cross these places as fast as possible, i can go back there during a much smaller trip

Concerning Poland, Il want to see the remaining of the stalag B were my grand father was a POW (in Olsztynek) and worked in a farm near
Osetnik.

I haven't completly set the program in latvia and lithuania

I wanted to see Sankt Petersburg but my friend in mosckva told me we would go there by high speed train

In car it would add a lot of kilometers

If i go to Estonia I have a few hundred more km to drive through Russia (wich is not that enthusiastic ) and there is no really direct road from moskva to talinn unfortunatly

there is some place I wanted to see near vilnius (I don't remember the names )

You could also consider driving to Helsinki, leaving your car here (free parking available) and taking an overnight train to Moscow.

As a based in Moscow Russian citizen, I would reccommend you to drive to St. Pete and also see the area around the city (Pushkin, Gatchina, Petergof). You can take 2-day trip to Moscow with a fast train ("Sapsan", 4 hours), which is enough. Moscow is very busy, chaotic place and less interesting with regard to photography, then St. Pete. Plus you can drive to Baultic states to see Tallin and Riga, which are very close to St. Pete.

Lovely quote from a St. Petersburg acquaintance: "Moskva! Hah! Is big village!"

Cheers,

My friend and his girl lives in moscow therefore I have a closed place to leave the car and a free bed :D

I don't know that part of the world at all, but cameras and road trips make great companions anywhere. Do you set creative goals, or just flow and let things unfold?

Enjoy!

John

Have a great time and drive safely. Enjoy all the places you will visit.
Post pictures as you go or at least when you return to Paris. Always
did enjoy your posts when you first started her- the factory, on the
ship! So very good.

Nice ! Sounds like a great idea ! I was also thinking about a long road trip to Russia but along a more southern route, inspired no doubt by Klavdij Sluban
Have fun !
