This spring I had a 9 day holiday in Bangladesh. As luck would have it, after I booked my tickets and before I arrived, the country erupted into a little bit of chaos. The former government decided that they didn't think that the election was fair, so they called for a hartel, which is basically a country-wide shutdown of services. Shops were closed, some buses and taxi companies stopped, others didn't. It really didn't make sense to me as some things were open, others were not.

While I was there, three buses were torched, one blogger (the first one) was hacked to death, and a dozen or so people were shot.

Despite all of this, the country was fantastic and the people that I met were amazingly friendly.

Oh and a little background on the gear...

The color was a Pentax 67 with a 105mm f2.4 shooting Fuji 160NS

The b&w was a Leica M2 with a Nikkor 50 1.4 and a voigtlander 35 1.4 on Ilford Pan 400.

You must have experienced the same warmth and hospitality that I encountered during my trip back in 2012. Despite their poor economic status, governance and overall stability, their people are really out of this world.

Keep the shots coming!

Excellent photos that really impart a sense of 'place.'

My biggest pet peeve with travel or destination photos is that they look like they could have been taken anywhere. Yours definitely give a sense of 'we're not in Kansas anymore.' I like them -- congrats!

On another note, the dysfunction that's been prevalent in Bangladesh is just sad.

Nice nice nice.

I'd seen most of these on FB but a lot I haven't yet. I'm jonesing to travel again...hopefully we can meet up next March? :)
