Well I'm just so lucky that my 3 day stay in Barcelona will be accompanied by non stop rain (or so says the forecast). So I need some advice on activities under these conditions. I'm not much of a museum type, prefer to discover streets and streetlife, but although I do plan to do a little outdoors shooting my exposure to the open sky will be limited, it's really pouring down.
So what is a photography-minded person to do over here in heavy rain? Wednesday Lartigue exhibit will open, I'll be there. One of the "Cajas" has some photo show on Plaza de Catalunia. What else? Dammit, I want to shoot!! :(

Yep, good one, precisely type of stuff I had in mind. Keep em coming :)

And thanks for the bookshop advice, that's another thing to do in the rain. Can never have enough photography books.

LOL! Just like me like last year, I went to Barcelona in winter and with some flu... rainrainrain...

Second time (out of three) happening to me. First time a few years ago was also raining. Who said "sunny" Barcelona?! :D

I concur. My only trip there two years ago saw monsoon-like rains the first and second days. Only the third was reasonably sunny.

That said, I'd go to one of the many covered markets they have throughout the city. You can also visit many different churches.

Go to a town square (local shopping area) and take advantage of the weather...I'm sure you'll get some nice colors or even B&W images...stay dry but shoot those getting wet...

You could hide in the arcades of Plaça Reial. Anyway, the most obvious solution would be to buy an umbrella, but I am sure you thought of that! :)

This is a bit belated, but I want to thank sinetsin for Kowasa recommendation. What an awesome bookshop! I've never seen anything like that (mind you that while Amsterdam does have it's share of bookshops, finding good photobooks can be a challenge). Fully dedicated to photography with lots of choice, several floors and sections. Man, if that shop was in Amsterdam I'd be so happy but in so much trouble - I can just see my Saturdays spending all my time and money on records and photography books!

What did I get?

Paolo Pellegrin "As I Lay Dying"
Jens Olof Lasthein "White Sea Black Sea"
and a book called "Photojournalism" with a collection of some fine photogs and shots.

Trust me, I could have gotten dozens more, but I had to pace myself. The girl working there was very friedly and gave me a small book with local Barcelona photogs for free :)

If you're ever in Barcelona - KOWASA - highly highly highly recommended.

Thanks!
