Bare breasted women in New York City welcome street photographers

NC,

Last Year at PhotoPlus Expo at the Javets Center I encountered a naked women in public getting body painted. I took a series of shots, but one caught a rather erotic moment because this one kneeling girl was using a long brush to paint the inside thigh on another girl. Somehow the decisive moment was a moment of bliss. LOL.

The Greenwich Village Halloween Parade includes a goup of body pained girls every year. The Mermaid Parade has been compared to being like the "Gay Pride Parade except for straight people."

The way I see it that the law has to be equally enforced or else it is discriminatory, and too many precidents have happened that already has shown tolerance.

I laughed when in the article they said, "After all, no one thinks twice about a man shirtless on a hot summer day." I beg to differ, no one like seeing man boobs. LOL.

Street photography in New York now offers some new and unique photo ops:

I find it interesting that some people who are fully clothed rage against street photographers - yet these bare breasted women offer not a word of complaint.

Go figure. 🙄

Great thread title.

If you are really good on the street they don't know you are taking the shot. If you're obvious you better expect issues.

I was way in hell up in the national forest, and had to wait for some cowboys to pass by.

While they passed I took a few snaps with nex 5 and summicron 50--from about 35 feet.

I got a lecture:
"Don't take our picture without permission"

I just kept my mouth shut, and refrained from mentioning I could bloody well shoot them all day on public land, if I choose. They were armed after all.

But I cooled down later and left a note on their rig with my email if they wanted copies, and a "no offense".

Lots of people will hate you if they see you shooting them. That's never gonna change. They have as much right to tell you to F-off as you do to take their picture and post it on the internet. 🙂

Well, I think that women that bare their breasts in the city are maybe a bit more extrovert (if not plain exhibitionist) than most women. So maybe they also mind it a bit less to have their picture taken.

LOL...

I'm a sloppy writer who slurs a lot. Thanks for pointing that one out. (Pained= Painted) LOL.

BTW about a year ago on the news were these girls pole dancing on the subway. No lie.

Also pole dancing at the Mermaid parade, and one year when I was searching for the people that were following the Mayan calender for the end of the world around Union Square, when I stumbled into a dance parade where I discovered a pole dancing float. Evidently in Madhattan there's a pole dancing school on Fifth Avenue. Some of the girls were trying to recruit me LOL.

I intend on eventually printing a "Street Porn" series. "I love New York."

Actually, if I remember correctly, in Canada it is legal for women to go topless in public. The issue was of a young lady who took her t-shirt off on a very hot day in a remote town. When she was arrested for indecency, her defense was that men were walking around topless without any issues. Since she was not allowed to do the same thing based on her gender, this was clearly sexual discrimination, and a violation of her constitutional rights. The judge agreed with her, and so it has been that women in the Great North Strong and Free may go topless if they please - in public.

Hmmm. In August 2010 I spent a day at a very nice remote beach on Lake Huron shore between the village of Lafontaine and the famous (and overcrowded) Wasaga Beach, and was surprised to see such a beautiful public place quite spoiled with many ugly signs telling "Topless strictly forbidden". The signs didn't say if this was for men or women -or both- though.

Anyway I didn't go swimming with my shirt on. 😛

The Area Ten, if I'm not mistaken with numbers, was top-less and less crowded. It is where river flows, boat launch ramp is and dogs are allowed.
