Barnack awards 2020. Your thoughts?

The shortlist for the 2020 Barnack award has been release a couple of weeks ago, yet I've not seen any mention of this on photo forums. So I thought I would ask what your thoughts are:

There's a little bit of everything, it seems to me. Some documentary photography, some about identity and memory, some about the blurring of the line between fiction and documentary, some craft-based. It's been like that also in Magnum for the last 10-15 years, so no surprises here. From the award nominees I recognize Axelsson and De Midel. Their projects are elaborating on past ideas. They are accomplished photographers. Even the projects I personally don't care as a viewer much about seem accomplished. If anything, I am glad Axelsson got a nod. His type of photography was photographic bread and butter once, not so much any more.

Are these images in film or digital, or both? Do they have to be shot with Leicas? Not sure about the criteria.

I like them, not too heavy into weirdness. Better than anything I have ever done, (which unfortunately isn't always the case with photo contest winners, though it should be.)

I like that there is a wide range of styles presented...and I like a handful of them very much.
