Base plate loose lock ring

On my M camera the lock ring of the base plate should align nicely with the base plate after loading the film and stay in place. On this particular base plate the ring is loose and when the camera is in the normal position it just hangs there annoyingly. I tried to figure out how it's supposed to work and I guess it's just by friction. Is this correct? If there is to little friction what can I do?

It's just friction on mine, when this happened to me I dismantled it and tapped the C shaped bit with a wood drift (carefully) and it's been OK ever since ... btw the C shaped bit is attached to the spindle with a transverse shaft which can simply be pushed out with a paperclip or similar

Youxin Ye fixed one of my base plate having the similar issue. He mentioned that he use a different screw to make sure the ring stay in the right position. U may check with him.
