Hi All.

Every time I charge my battery, I need to reset my R-D1's time and date upon re-insertion of the battery. I'm running Firmware 2.0

Is this normal?

My experience is that I never need to reset time and date, or any other setting after replacing the battery.

Just checked the manual - there is a capacitor that provides up to 24 hours back up to the internal clock when the battery is removed. My guess would be that if the clock requires resetting with the battery out for less than 24 hours then it sounds like the capacitor isn't working. Never heard of this happening before.

Yeah, the manual said there was a capacitor to save date/time info, but not where it is or how to change it. Oh well, seems to be working fine when the battery is in there. I don't get a great amount of shots from mine. The seller said he never really used the camera. It seems the battery is pretty discharged, but I ordered new ones.

yup.. get new batteries (buy a couple at least). As wtih many li-ion batteries, they have a shelf life and may be damaged if discharged too deeply. I have 4 batteries total (2 Epson and 2 non-branded). All perform just fine.

They've been ordered. Istill think it is the internal capacitor though, but there seems to be nothing I can do about it. Oh well - the camera works fine otherwise.
