Hi

I just insert the new battery for leica, but when I went out in the cold weather the low battery sign always appear.
Which type of battery should I use which is prone to the cold weather?

Thank you

I use the CR 1/3N type, which is 2 batteries in one, to make up a single 3v battery. They are Lithium. I find them easier to handle than two of the tiny 1.5v cells. I can remember when my R6 conked out in cold weather several years ago. It must have been 20 degrees (F) out. After warming up later, everything was fine. In temperatures above freezing I have not had a problem with these batteries.

Which kind of battery did you use, and how cold was it?

It was not very cold at all. some one recommend me to use something like Oxide Battery, because it is prone to the weather. But I am not really sure, so I just want to make sure with the people you had experience.

Thanks

I use the same batteries as Rob uses. I've had these in my MP at temperatures in the low 20s F and have shot for at least 30 minutes or so without any problems. I think lithiums are suppose to handle cold temps pretty well. Try another new battery too. You never know, that one might have just been a dud.

M's seem to have short battery life when it gets cold, and living in VT I shoot in the cold a lot. I wonder if it is the metal build that contributes to this? Just yesterday an M7 lost power while I was out- I always carry spares.

I've been thinking about trying the 76 type batteries over the Lithiums this winter- I'll likely do a real comparison in January.
