Battery for my R-D1s

Awhile back, there were some posts (might have been over on photonet) about aftermarket batteries causing the shutter to hang up. Whether there was an actual cause-and-effect relationship, or if it was a coincidence, I don't know. Just something to be aware of.

I think that there is a higher risk of internal shorting with the higher capacity batteries. You can, for instance, buy higher MAh batteries than the 1150 MAh ones that Leica supplies for the D-Lux 4; but Leica doesn't use them. Probably a reason for that.

For me personally, I'll use any battery with same voltage and current as included branded battery, when both are fully charged, regardless of mah rating, which is most likely not correlated with actual capacity. Would be surprised if a 1400 mah or 1600 mah 3rd party actually lasts longer or shorter.

For AA's, depends on what I'm putting it in, if a GPS for a hike, I use good ones, and carry charged spares. If the kids cameras, or remotes around the house, anything that works.
