I have read quite a bit about how using a 1.55 volt battery will result in inaccurate meter readings and a bad voltage curve in older cameras.
My question is about the inverse: what happens if you use a 1.35 volt battery in one that is set up for 1.55 volts? Will the meter readings be significantly off?
I cannot remember if i had a camera converted to 1.55, and would like to pop in a 1.35 volt battery.

It depends on the circuitry of the particular camera. Shooting film: the exposure latitude is greater than any deviation that I've seen. For some cameras, like my Canonet Ql17l, online instructions show how to adjust the meter. I did that for mine.

In lieu of a meter, if the camera displays shutter speed and aperture, Sunny 16 can give you a reasonable idea of which way, if any, the camera meter deviates from the expected exposure. Personally, I'd expect the meter would over-expose with a lower-voltage battery and under-expose with a higher-voltage battery.
