With the Decisive Challenge taking place on December 15th & 16th I thought it might be fun to have a little meetup around the event with everyone invited, those participating and not.

One thought:

We could all meet at the SFMoMA and maybe take in "South Africa in Apartheid and After" by David Goldblatt, Ernest Cole and Billy Monk. Afterwards we could grab a beer.

Second thought:
We could skip the MoMA show and meet at the beginning or the end of the day to discuss our photographic adventures and ogle gear.

Let me know what sounds good to you and please vote on which day you'd prefer to meet.

Saturday works for me.

The show eats into shooting time too much.
Perhaps we can do this photo walk style with a lunch stop:
I find it really interesting, after the event, to see the photos other got and I missed; or to see three very different versions of the same moment.
 
Either day OK (Sat slightly preferred) & all options good, possibly combined: SFMOMA when it opens, then beer/lunch spilled over gear, then shooting/capturing?

Tough call here as I agree with Donald that time is of the essence for those shooting in the Decisive Challenge.

So I propose that those wishing to see the South African show at the MoMA assemble there at 11 (opening time) and head on in promptly to see the show.

We then can all meet up, attendees and non alike, at 12:30 for a bite and some drinks. I thought maybe we could meet inside the new re-opened Metreon at the far end of the food area where the Buckhorn Grill is. Lots of seating, food of all kinds for every taste (almost). Plus... it's a little change of pace from our usual routine and might even lend a few photo ops!

Let me know your thoughts. Other eating possibilities include:
- Tropisueno next to the Jewish Museum. Good Mexican food/drinks.
- 4th Street Bar & Grill. I just hate to give these rude idiots a nickel.
- Chevy's near the MoMA
- MoMA Cafe (drink limited)
- Jewish Museum Cafe (never been there).

Sound like a plan??
 
Let's try Plan A this time. Metreon Food area in back by the Buckhorn, 12:30.

I might not be at the MoMA as I have to shoot something in the city at 11am or so for the Challenge. I'll see you all at the Metreon.

Weather might be turning against us: "Cloudy early with showers for the afternoon hours. High 51F. Winds SE at 5 to 10 mph. Chance of rain 40%." I might switch to Sunday, when rain chance is less.

I saw 20% with higher chance after 10pm. Hope you can make it Kirk.
 
Pretty nice overcast day in SF so far. Not bad temp wise (55 maybe) and no rain. See you guys later!

Bummer Donald! Try to sneak some GRD or phone shots wherever you are, at lunch, in the airport or around the office building. I'll bet your good eye can find a shot today or tomorrow!

Guys, I had hopes of making this meet-up, but I got swamped at work and now have to catch up on the weekend with stuff I had intended to do during the week. Good luck with the challenge and SFMOMA!
 
We'll miss you Steve but have a great weekend! Hopefully you can get out and do some Decisive shooting in Sacramento.

The weather looks terrible outside.
Got 3 hours waiting here in SFO - will see what I can do.
Goods luck in town - at least the christmas lights will look better in the rain
