On the web version, clicking on the share icon, the second one on the left, leads to a pop-up with the bb-code at the right on the top menu in the pop-up.

Yes and drop the whole code string into the message window. No need to enclose or use insert image tags etc.

very weird. On my Flickr too, I can't see the dedicated photo-sharing icon.
Ok, the photo sharing icon is there, but it's not visible.
You need to move the cursor with the mouse, until the latter hits the hidden icon.
Then, the option to upload photos will open.

Hmm. It's always worked for me. Just pulled an image's BBCode string from Flickr.com. Here's the string with the square brackets converted to braces so that the RFF server doesn't process the contents as BBCode:
And here's the BBCode string pasted in line as normal, to be processed:

Seems to work fine.

Well the little arrow isn't showing up on my flickr, so I clicked in the space where it should be and it worked.

I’d try a different browser, clearing your cache, all that kinda stuff. Sounds like it might be a browser issue rather than a Flickr issue.
