Be on the look out for this M8 photog

The expressions, light and colour are nice, but it appears he has missed the focus on both shots. I think he's not used to rangefinder focusing.

The second shot is rather snap-shottish IMO. Certainly not something to be held up as an inspiration. Subject is central left to right, too much space above head, background is distracting with distracting elements. (top right corner, bottom right corner esp)

Checked out his flicker site too, and well, again IMO, there's not too much to get excited about. Many RFF galleries are superior, IMO.

Focus looks spot on for both of those shots.

Anyway, he's got more talent then me and that's enough for me to look at those shots and go "nice".

The distracting bokeh is courtesy of the Noc 1.0

I should have said that he is fantastic at processing digital images. As far as RFF gallery being better, I beg to differ.

ywenz, I didn't mean the entire RFF gallery, I meant many individual photographer's galleries in RFF. (xray, Todd Hanz, Beilliam, Graksi, BudGreen, partickjames, Simon Larby, lovecollect, to name but a few) Is this guy your friend? I jsut wonder what you think is so spectacular that we should watch out for him. I only looked at the photos displayed on his front page, not in any of the folders. It could jsut be a difference in taste. That's likely it.

In order to keep the peace, and keep things friendly here at RFF, I really shouldn't have posted my negative comment and jsut have kept it to myself. I would have too, if you (ywenz) had jsut said, here's a photographer whose work I like, instead of telling me I should be watching out for him. In that case, it begged for a response.

The other thing is that it gets a bit boring around here if we all just agree with everything, or keep quiet if we don't. It's a good thing to express different opinions, as long as it's done in a respectful manner.

I can see that Carlo's photographic style is not to the tune of most street photogs on this site. I've always thought he is extremely well versed in processing digital files. His digital images have always looked stellar! Just look at these here:

I'm looking forward to the results he can get out of the M8. I don't know the guy, but I do browse his site once in a while.

The shot of Josefina has the chair in focus, but her face is softer. And the one of Vincent, his face doesn't apper to be in focus. This is better seen in the large versions on flickr. I'm in criticising the photographer, just observing.

I agree he's very good at processing digital images; much better than I am.

The shot of Josefina is very nice and sweet; I pretty much agree with Frank on the one of Vincent. There are plenty of non-M8 shots on his site that are quite nice; the M8 is so new to him that it's not fair to assess his skill with it yet.

Noct 1.0, which probably explains some of the focusing errors.

Thanks for that link Frank.. now I'm really _depressed_ :bang: :bang: :bang:

EXIF from the image:

Exposure: 0.001 sec (1/1000)
Aperture: f/4
Focal Length: 600 mm
ISO Speed: 800

Which of course points to this big boy. (taken with the M8)
