Beautiful XP-2 image

That's an interesting shot. I wonder if it prints well at 20x16 size or something like that.

The Navajo are a wonderful and creative people, but they and the Pueblo have not been treated well by their states and the Federal government. Their traditions are really interesting, and I understand the Navajo in particular have been photographed extensively.

Russ,
As you know I too LOVE XP2 (can we get on Ilford's gimme' lista?) - LOL.
Here's a young friend of mine. Exposed at 320asa, yellow filter.

The processor I go to has trouble printing XP2 also. They are pretty good, use whatever paper you want them to, they just have troubles with it. The last roll I took to them they didn't charge me because they weren't satisfied that they did a good job.

This one (of the little girl) was actually done at Wal-marts One hour. I know a little lady there, who after much convincing, does a great job ~ ; - )
If she's not there, it's a crap shoot.

I am actually going back to silver, TMax and TriX. I will develop it myself, or just have the film processed w/o prints and scan them. That is only a few $. Maybe someday I will set up a darkroom and do some printing, but that will be a while from now and it is more likely that I would upgrade my scanner.

rover, I just tried some HP5+ and Neopan 400 and had them developed by A&I Labs in LA. Right now I'm mucking about with these negs and my new scanner but next week I plan to post a couple of shots in my gallery.

FWIW at first blush the HP5 looks grainy and the Neopan doesn't. A&I develop in Xtol. I also bought an enlarger this week... 🙂

Many years ago, when comparing and testing the two, I found the Ilford Delta's to be much better than the T-Max equivalents. Same camera, lenses, scene's, etc. Not near as finicky in exposure or development as the T-Max's, and they souped in a wider range of developers.

However, I later discovered Neopan 400, and that was it! The Holy Grail of 400 speed B/W films. I love that stuff. Beautiful tonality and grain. And also, for reasons that I can't explain, the negs print up rather well onto color paper, in those one hour Fuji Frontier machines. Many of the B/W images that I have posted in this group, are scanned from the little 4x6" proof prints, made in this manner. If for whatever reason (rare) that I don't have any, I go to Ilford Delta 400. I haven't touched Tri-X or HP-5, since I discovered the Neopan 400!
