I think even Brian has referred to the Industar I-50 as a large
hunk of aluminum. Really. I've heard it called much worse.
But you can pretty it up.
After the clean and polish routine, just cut a thin strip of
leatherette - or if you're as lazy as I am - a thin strip of
black photographers' masking tape.
(Good ol' boys kin use duct tape)
Carefully fit this around the wide expanse
of aluminum at the base of the lens and...
voila, Cinderella arises.

That is way, way, way snappy. I have two I-50s, one black and one aluminum. Oh, the possibilities ...

Hmmmmm, you know that shiny silver wrapping paper with the sort of round swirly 'hologram' pattern . . . ??? Would look nice there too. Or maybe some sort of fur ? . . . ok, maybe not the fur

But what exactly is the "clean and polish routine"? What do you use?

I have the Bessa R
but not the Industar.
How much is one, and what's the attraction of this Russian lens?

Cheap, Ted, it's cheap.
IMO - results look like the 3.5 Elmar.
Here's some info and pix of an un-altered I-50.

I did the same to my shiny I10 , and it's mounted on my long suffering M8 - I love the atmosphere of these vintage lenses - and it's a heck of a lot easier to use than my Fed collapsible !
