Beer or Film?

If you had your way, which items would you prefer to take up the majority of space in your fridge/freezer?

My fridge is mainly comprised of food, beer, drinks, some film and exposed film.
Alternatively my freezer is filled with film, ice-cream and peas.

So, does anyone have issues with how much film can be stored without upsetting your other half/girlfriend?

For me that is NOT the issue, it WOULD be a film majority if I had my way, I just can't afford the rising cost of the beautiful emulsion, so food takes precedence. I guess the jello is virtually one and the same thing with its gelatin base, so if I only I could work out how to transform my green lunch jelly into TRI-X and Neopan 1600, I would be a happy man.

If I didn't have that little luxury I would have to give my priority to food though ... and beer's a drink for the commoners! 😛

I generally order about 20-30 rolls of film every three or four months so room in the fridge isn't really an issue. In fact just today I decide that rather then place another order was I going to force myself to use up what I had which consist of
Arista EDU 100 120 15 rolls
Tri-X 120 1 roll
Porta 800 120 1 roll
Porta 160 NC 35mm 2 rolls
Fuji Pro 400H 35mm 7 rolls
LegacyPro 400 3 rolls
LegacyPro 100 4 rolls
Efke 25 35mm 7 Rolls
Delta 3200 35mm 1 roll.

Figure should take me a bit over 2 months to shoot it all.

We have a second fridge plus a freezer in the basement. Plenty of room for film, food and beer. Like Keith says, a second fridge isn't that expensive.

On your second point, it all depends on what beer you drink and where you reside, a generic beer like VB (dreadfully gassy concotion), Cascade (toilet water), Bud (lemonade) Miller (drain water) or a beautiful imported Belgian/German/Dutch beer. A lot of top end boutique distilleries have emerged in recent years producing some wonderful fruity, high alcohol priced nectar that have taken a large portion of the wine/champagne market.

But I guess your second point is nullified if you go to the trouble of loading your own bulk film, as that is surely akin to being a common beer drinker. An aristocrat would purchase their film as single boxes, so they didn't have to follow the lower class route of performing this heinous task.

Hence, loading bulk film into reusable cartridges = beer drinker.

I keep the film where the veggies would otherwise go. The veggies are elsewhere. And, no beer. Just wine. (Usually too warm around here to store reds comfortably, so they're kept in the fridge and brought out to warm up.)

.... I would love to have a second fridge for film only but living close to Tokyo with a family doesn`t permit to rent a larger apt... 🙁

At the moment I have maybe 200 rolls (135-36 and 120) and 60 sheets 4x5 in the fridge, while 60 rolls have to stay outside, no free space (my wife has different priorities regarding the fridge / freezer ... 😱)

I usually put my film in the freezer. It's usually more empty, and less likely to get knocked about if it were in the fridge.

My wife and I love beer. However, we're abstaining from it for dietary reasons for a few weeks.

Here's a little known fact about the United States of America: It actually produces some of the very best beer in the entire world. However, it also produces the worst beer in the world, which it's mostly known for.

have around 2,000 roll's of film in the family fridge/freezer, 135, 120, Eastman 5222 and 5231 plus a couple hundred sheets off 4x5.

Just about all the freezer space is used up and only 1 shelf plus the veggie drawer is free in the fridge.

My solution was not so much as to but a second fridge but to buy a second house (apartment), the house here has just become our weekend retreat away from the pollution off Manila 🙂

In most all the households in which I've resided, 'fridge space has always been tight: the most film I've been able to stash in one go has been about 20-40 rolls, so I tend to stock film on a "just-in-time-plus" basis. It doesn't hurt that Adorama and B&H are a mere subway ride away, of course.

Depending on my living situation over the next few months, a mini-fridge dedicated to film might be in the cards.
