Beige tinted flash ?

Hello, couldn't find any suitable forum for this case, so for a while post here.

Have received flash, for my unexperienced eye it works, though on front plastic element it has thin "light beige" tinted layer, I guess it's thin layer of glue which hardened when dried. To describe it more, I can say that it's semitransparent, I can see thin lines in structure of front element. Seems it can be gently scrubbed off with wooden tootpick, I just wonder why previous owner did it - to have permanent filter/diffuser on ?

Are you sure it's glue or such?

Anyway, if you can ask the previous owner, you'd find out pretty quickly what he did with it. 🙂

It reminds me thin layer of hardened epoxy glue, to be precise. As with all stuff coming from BAS*, I'm generally not very sure about previous owners 🙂

Probably prev. owner had specific needs or taste, so I assume. I just peeled off this thin layer and now flash is clear. Thanks all who helped out !

Was the previous owner a smoker?

I'm sure it weren't nicotine deposit. Thin semitransparent film of hardened epoxy glue.
And to answer direct Q: I don't know previous owner, flash came from BAS.

I seem to remember 'gold' flashes.

Perhaps this one of those.

I have a vague memory of 1960's flashes sometimes having a gold colored tint.

perhaps the previous owner attached a Rosco ambard ******* n. 2 gel

Seems Rosco makes specialty products, though what I removed were clearly hand work, having in some places even traces of cracked air bubbles. It doesn't seemed to be sticky film in any way. Semihard coating, which I were able to remove with sewing needle, gently peeling it off.
