An Undesirable
I'm slightly worried that I've slowly become accustomed and accepting of authority. In my experience the police have always come to my rescue when any issue concerning photography has arisen.
The 'mall cops' and occasionally the odd member of public may have queried my intentions but the police have always been knowledgeable and reasoned enough to let me carry on once they've arrived. I imagine that the security forces are looking at other 'giveaways,' evidence, odd activity than public photography.
The potential fear factor within the public domain and what we're left with in a number of years time is far more concerning to me. If public anxiety allows us to give up some of our hard fought (thankfully not by me I hasten to add) freedoms in the way that petty greed led us to search for every way imaginable to sue over what was once called an accident, in return for a (usually fairly) small sum of compensation and ever increasing insurance premiums surely led to us eroding our own ability to take responsibility for ourselves. The Law is usually a slow and cumbersome creature that doesn't react too well to change, however, fear and a strong public perception (possibly misconception) to that/those fear(s) can make all too swift and ill thought through changes.

Roger: Search algorithms + data matching = flags -> unnecessary complications. I think most people want to minimise the risk of complications. Algorithms don't have a brain, or common sense.

is that a guess or personal belief? to be honest, i have met numerous fighters from groups most label as 'T' and your assumptions don't match my experiences.
i have little time or patience for either citizens or security forces hassling me for taking photographs. with security forces, unless they are police my response is usually 'get lost'. with the police i immediately ask whether i am being detained or not. if not i go about my business with equal speed.

So this is what free speech has come to. We have freedom of speech, on condition that we don't use it. Great!
I am so happy and proud, to live in a time where ratting on your neighbour is a fine thing to do. The best of times! There are wonderful examples of the good things delation can do for a society : Rome under Sulla, Stalins purges and Germany in the thirties. Isn't it lovely, that we can adjust our behaviour to the possibility of being denounced by a concerned citizen? Clearly, this can only make us a better, more polite society. I propose we go all the way : put the denounced T's head on a stake, confiscate his/her goods, and split the proceeds with the informer. We would be so much happier if only we could clean our neighbourhoods, get rid of the riffraff. And have their expensive cameras fall in our laps. Yay!

Anyone that doesn't have the best interests of people in mind wants to keep them off-balance and afraid. Governments do this much more habitually, more often, and more easily than individual special-interest groups. Small groups kill tens; governments respond by killing hundreds of thousands, while selling this much-more-massive murder successfully to their public. This has become increasingly easier with the internet. 1984 should be required reading in schools, for as long as schools are permitted to exist.
