With my M4 being repaired on the other side of the world, I was offered a loaner M3 and vc 50/1.5 to take on my trip to Belgium.

So these are dedicated to Hung Tran who kindly gave me the use of a very nice camera, solely based on being a member here on RFF. Thanks mate. I'll post the camera back this week.

Firstly some shots from the Menin Gate in Ypre. It is a monument to all the fallen soldiers that fought nearby in WWI and whose remains were never found. My Great Grandfather's name is inscribed there. Since 1928, each night at exactly 8.00pm, they bugle the Last Post in memory.

All taken in failing light with Delta 100 developed in Infosol 3.

Interesting photos John,

The first time I partook in the ceremony at the Menin Gate it left a big impression on me. It gave me goosebumps and left a lump in my throat.

Did you perchance visit the Ramparts Museum?

Interesting photos John,

Last year I was there the day before Remembrance day (on the 10/11) and laid a wreath. Everyone was good until a lady began singing 'Old Danny Boy'. Not a dry eye anywhere.

This year was was just a 'normal' weekend night and there must of been over 500 people. The bagpipes are always an amazingly emotional instrument.

I haven't been to the Ramparts museum yet. Is it in Ypres? Next year perhaps. I did visit Tyne Cot Cemetery this year though on my way to the Gate. It's near Passendale.

I was happy with the shots. Fading light and stuck with Delta 100.

This is a shot of Ypre. Hard to believe it was completely rebuilt after WWI.

The Rampart Museum in Ypres has some fantastic displays. The entrance is through the pub "'t Klein Rijsel" at the Lille Gate (Rijselpoort).

Have visited it both times I was in Ypres. Liked it better then the Cloth Hall museum to be honest.

I have been to Tyne Cot and other cemeteries a few times in the last few years. Nearby is the Memorial Museum Passchendaele in Zonnebeke. Also highly recommended.

Considering the low speed film I think the results are quite nice. The motion blur adds a little something to it...a WW1 vintage feel if you like. Placing it nicely in context with the location.
