After having some time on my hands, I read Believing Is Seeing: Observations on the Mysteries of Photography by Errol Morris.

I have it & enjoyed reading it, though you could get 90% of it for free by reading the entire series of articles in the NY Times.

I've read about half of it and got side-tracked. I liked it a lot and have to get back to finishing it.

It looks like an intriguing book

What I enjoyed most about it was it was less about aesthetics and more about discerning a truth.
