Ben Lifson's Take on the R-D1

Wow, gotta say that is very interesting...who knew Ben Lifson was moderating a forum :)
Sean, I once had a short chat with you on the Leica site about our mutual friend Brennan Cavanaugh and Bard College (that was right after your Lancaster Wedding series, which is my hometown). Anyway, Brennan has told me great things about Ben, enough that I would value Ben's opinion very highly. That was a very passionate review of the R-D1, and should (maybe in a more perfect world) bode well for the camera. Epson should put some of it up on their site. Thanks for the HU.

Ben might have raised some valid points but, who would recommend a camera/company without a future? ... let's say today, who will service your R-D1s in USA ... and who will touch your "classic" R-D1 tomorrow?

lol. i don't know about epson putting out an r-d2, but you needn't worry about them going out of business.

sdai,

The answer to your question is too vast to answer here but if you do some background reading, you may come to understand why many people recommend this camera despite its uncertain future. With the caveats I mention in the long-term review, I still highly recommend it.
