"Bueller? Bueller? Anybody?"

I would like to hear from anyone with first hand experience with the Bergger graded papers and/or their film products. I had not heard of this company until very recently.

Thanks!

Bergger has been around a long time- they are a small boutique maker of high end products. I have printed on their papers for years, but I use the VC stuff, as they don't make grade 0 or grade 1 papers anymore, and the high contrast stuff only limits the range you can get. But the VC papers, especially when printed with split filtration yield excellent results. The paper itself is very nice, in weight, tone, and pH neutrality. Not many companies are making silver coated paper of this weight and quality anymore. It's expensive stuff, but worth it, especially for the high-end exhibition quality prints.

I have not used their film that much, but the results I have seen can be spectacular. Like their papers, they seem to have a very high silver content, which makes them particularly good for pyro and other staining developers, and capable of quite impressive range of detail. I know a few photographers who swear by them.

Overall, if you have the extra scratch for Bergger materials, you can't really find better.

I've tried their ISO 200 B&W film in 35mm because I read somewhere that it was supposed to resemble Verichrome Pan. Not sure if that's true, @ least in 35mm & as processed by my lab. It did provide an old-school look, albeit grainier than I expected, so I do plan to try it in 120 @ some point.

I really like their 200 film, only used it in 120 so far though. It does have the curse of the curl though and I find it a bear to lay flat to scan.

A few examples here shot with my Rolleiflexes (SL66 and 2.8E TLR):

Thank you!

Thank you!

Keep the information coming! I appreciate it!

In the Land Before Time I printed on nothing but Agfa Brovira #2. The Bergger #2 paper may be just what I've been looking for to replace Brovira. 😎

Nice work Rich!

Quality stuff, film and paper. I have used 4x5 and 35mm which is a bit grainy but has beautiful tones. Undiluted D76 is best.

I have been looking at Bergger myself recently. Try this link for technical information http://www.bergger.com/inter/index.html

Does anyone see these films stocked anywhere or do you mail order everything? I will be looking for some in Bangkok or Hong Kong but may have some hand carried from France. Where is the best price available? I usually look to Singapore or Hong Kong so I have no idea what the prices are elswhere so any information is welcome.
