turns out i probably won't be free next tuesday. i have to meet a very good friend of mine who was out of town for half a year. anyways, you lot can still meet and maybe i can join later or idono.
 
I can't do that on a weekly base anyway .. but let's try and have a Stammtisch once a month at least!

Darn... Now I know what I forgot - my plan was to join/subscribe the "Stammtisch".
I was photographing that evening at the same time very near Hackescher Markt - next
time I come over for a beer.
 
My girlfriend will move to Berlin in July for three months and the question is whether or not I should join her.

At this moment we live in Paris which I enjoy a lot. We're going to Berlin from Feb 13. - Feb 19. This will be the trip that will form my decision.

So, I hope some of you can help me with my questions and concerns.

-What should I be doing from 13. - 19. that could make me really appreciate Berlin? I'm open to pretty much everything and I hope I find stuff I like.
-A vague question, but is Berlin good for photography? I'm used to photographing in New York, Paris (streets, beach, parks, museums, tourists etc). What are good/busy areas for photographing people? (my website is in my signature and may give an idea of what I find interesting)

I know my questions are a bit direct but I hope some of you might help me some. It would be alot of fun if I turn out to like it, but I'm a bit of a sceptic (photographically).

Well, this is a bad time - Berlin is at it's worst Dec-Feb. Then it gets really nice. Unless you like "forever late autumn" type of gray, depressing weather...

The rest of the year, March-November, I personally enjoy the numerous parks, ponds, lakes, the Tempelhof airport that is now a huge picnic area, as well as the odd, murky, grimy parts of town, for example around the Warschauer Strasse area and Kreuzberg, except when the hipsters try to run me over with their bicycles. And the bars, bars and bars! Coming from Paris you might enjoy the fact that it's pretty easy to get all around the city here, you don't have to get stuck on traffic jams unless you absolutely insist on driving your own car, and even then it's probably not that bad.

(Oh yes hello everyone, I'm still here 🙂

Yes indeed .. weather right now sucks pretty much. Berlin is awesome in summer time. Especially when you have no job that ruins the day.

Things to do: check out the C/O or maybe the Gropiusbau for good exhibitions.

There are several central areas like Alexanderplatz, Museums Island or Kuh'damm with enough people to pursuit street photography, but mind people are not really hanging around outside this time of the year.
In summertime half of Berlin is practically living in the parks or on the watersides in Kreuzberg. I think there is plenty of film to burn for you here!
 
Why don't we just meet for a beer when you get here and then have a chat?

Thanks for the help so far. Got a little more optimistic.

Meeting up would definetly be interesting!

(And an extra thanks to you David for informing me about the website. The norwegian domain was still up and running so hadn't noticed. Fixed now)
 
I could try to show up for a Feb meeting, I'll be away the 14-17th of February but otherwise I will be around. Hopefully not TOO busy with some work-related things.
 
Next Tuesday (12th of feb) .. for a farewell beer to the departing Simon?
Same place, same time?
