Has anyone such a thing from a scrapper? I have a very nice Bessa-1 but no pressure plate. I can try to make one but if anyone has a scrapper I'd be interested.

See: the 'New Found Folder Love' thread has persuaded me to try to get my best (quality)/worst (important part missing) folder in commission.

Cheers,

R.

Just a thought, but Bessa I cameras can often be bought on ebay for $10 (and they come with pressure plates).

Pressure plates from other Bessa (earlier....)

Pressure plates from other Bessa (earlier....)

Many of the earlier Bessa cameras use the same pressure plate as in the Bessa I.... As LONG AS the earlier bessa is also a dual format camera like the Bessa I. Those would have the two ruby windows in the back, linear to each other and shoot 6X4.5 by stopping the film number at both windows and 6X9 stopping the film at only one of the windows.

I've have an older bessa with the dual format mask, and the film plane is identical to a number of Bessa I's I have owned. The camera's back into the 30's should offer some of these dual format plates with the two holes.

...probably just as easy to buy a sheet of brass from the hobby shop, cut to shape and drill the two red window holes and the 7 small holes to atatch it, paint it black, done

Hi Andrew,
Just wondering what kind of black paint would you recommend for this job ?
It has to have a matt finish and be rather endurable to withstand the filmtransport.

A part bessa from ebay or you could try the "as is" category @ KEH. their prices are usually very low for that stuff.

I had a look around but I'm afraid i cant help with a junker pressure plate Roger, but if you need a picture and/or measurements of what size they used i can help with that. It shouldnt be too difficult to fashion a working replacement.

Dear Andrew,

Thanks very much -- and thanks to everyone else, too.

Yes, if you could send dimensions and a snap or two, that would be very welcome.

Cheers,

R.

nah i've been checking the old bessa and they are 10mm longer, it could possibly still be made to fit/work, but the bessa-I has that film roller rail on the back door that would most likely get in the way, also the fastening holes are in different places so it wouldnt just fit in without making new holes etc..the bessa II will interchange but no second red window, not that it would be used...probably just as easy to buy a sheet of brass from the hobby shop, cut to shape and drill the two red window holes and the 7 small holes to atatch it, paint it black, done

Andrew, maybe I'm missing something but are you saying that the pressure plate from a Bessa I won't fit into a Bessa I?

Hope this helps Roger,

Dear Andrew,

Ideal. Thanks.

Cheers mate -- R.

no Charles, what i mean is the pressure plate from the black bessa is not a straight change over to fit in the bessa 1, they are different and longer in size also (117mm). there are a few different variations of P.Plates for the black bessa but each has something that prevents it being a straight swap, can be cut or adapted in some way but not a straight swap

your welcome Roger, too easy

Okay, that makes sense.
