I lost a few from Nikons first, and later some Bessas. My main thought is scratching my glasses on the exposed threads.
Nikon's used to be common and cheap.
Don't know if Loctite would be overkill, would like, of course, for the people making them to incorporate a bit of nylon in the threads as is done with certain types of locking nuts.
My local dealer used to have some lying about, and some new ones.
