Bessa III diopter?

Will a regular diopter for, say, a Bessa R3A work on a Bessa III?

I'm a bit nearsighted but not enough to justify wearing glasses (Well...an optician might disagree but it's only like -1 so I can't be bothered.). It's not like I NEED a diopter but it might be nice.

You can also use Nikon eyepiece correction lenses from the FM etc days as they share the same 19mm thread ... though new ones may not be cheaper than those from Cosina.

The Cosina diopter correction lenses fit Zeiss Ikon, Bessa R3A-R2A, Epson R-D1, and Fujifilm GF670 Professional/Bessa III cameras as well as the Carl Zeiss ZM series viewfinders... great compatibility.

Although I got the answer for my initial question in this thread, I have a more general question regarding diopter lenses...

I wear glasses all the time and would prefer to not shuffle them up and down between shots. I have mild myopia - my prescription is -1,5 D. As far as I understand, the eye can adapt a bit if the correction isn't perfect.

• My idea is to get a -1 correction lens for the camera and thus be able to see sharp through the viewfinder both with and without my glasses on. Would it work?
  
  
• Also, I heard cameras are already a bit "corrected", say -0,5 or whatever... Do I need to take that into account when I pick my personal correction lens or is it just a misunderstanding on the Internet?

My shooting eye is -1.5 diopter and find a -1 very satisfactory. I am 60+ years old so my eye's accomodation is very little. I have tried -2 and it's not good at all.

Thanks John. I ordered both a -1 and -2, so hopefully at least the -1 will work for me too.
