What is the real killer app of the new Bessa iii (or GF670 + wide). It advertised as the 6x6 or 6x7 option, but after putting a few rolls through my GF670, I feel it is the extremely quite shutter -users, your thoughts.

Yes, the camera is very silent - quieter even than my X2. That makes that camera very useful for certain documentaty applications (which I purchased mine for).

Now, in reality, the usefulness of that is somewhat reduced in reality by the short RF base and (for me anyways) longer focusing time than with an M6 or ZI.

Still a fabulous camera, a nice blending of tradition and modern technology.

They should have given it a longer rf base, but... I seem to be able to get correct focus more so than with my Mamiya 7 with 80mm. Probably down to they very bright veiwfinder, which is excellent.

A 6x7 camera of that size, which folds up into a package smaller and lighter than most 35mm cameras, with AE, looks beautiful and is a 3rd of the price of a new Leica film body.

I think it's not one thing that make the GF670 the outstanding camera that it is, but the whole package, including it's very reasonable price.

6x6cm and 6x7cm roll film, compact and light in weight, very quiet shutter makes it a fabuleus traveling camera. You can shoot without tripod on high quality format roll film 1/30s.

Although theISO dial only goes down to 25, using compensation I have used Ados CMS 20. Now trying the Adox at 12. Looks like I will be using the wider aperatutes all the time0:)

The Bessa III has another feature that il less known. Here in vancouver, the Chinatown regulars are a bit leary about having their pictures taken. With the Bessa, you "unfold" the bellows and attach the hood. Now you have their full attention - and after a while some says."Oh my grand father used to have a camera like that" - and then they happily pose!
Both the III and the Wide have rangefinders that are unequalled by anyone. Easy to focus, compensating frame lines for distance, extremely good AE system - and quiet! The BessaWide actually have a small red light in the finder that tells you that you took a picture as you can't really hear the shutter!
I think my only beef with the Bessa 670's is the hood on the III - you can't fold it up without taking it off. Certainly not a major complaint though. At the moment my III is on loan to a friend and he is coming up with all kinds of excuses why he needs it for another week - or month. It's OK though as I tend to favor the BessaWide - like an M2 with large negs and AE.

Terrific nice camera:

About the hood: It is a bayonet and with one click on and off. Inside the hood you can mount a 40,5mm filter (same like most FSU R.F. lenses models have). So I do not have to buy any new.

Also nice is the leather pouch when you collapse the camera. So for the Bessa III 667 I certainly can recommend the camera, lens hood and pouch. Apart from some filters: Pola, ND 0,6 (fastest speed is 1/500s only), Yellow just to mention most important ones.
