Bessa L Broken Counter

Hi

I don't know if anyone has had this same problem, but my Bessa L's frame counter won't re-set to 0. It's stuck at 36. The rest of the camera still works fine, but it would be nice to know what frame number I'm on!

I'm probably going to take it to my local repair shop, who will most likely fix it in no time at all, but if theres anything I can do to save myself the money, it would obviosuly be good.

Any ideas?

Look around the rim of the back with the door open. There is a 'little pin thing'. top right, which needs to be pressed in for the reset to happen.

I've not had this with a Bessa but I have had a camera where this was gunged up and needed cleaning and another where I had to pull it out with some tweezers and it was fine thereafter.

Open the loading door and look for a small silver colored tab just below the wind lever. It is supposed to be compressed slightly by the film door when closed. On opening the door, the tab is supposed to move and release the counter.
Try nudging this silver tab with a toothpick or similar, and make sure no pocket lint or chewing gum is keeping it from relaxing when the door is opened.
