SO I am making a portrait kit for my bessa. Here's what I have.

Cameras:
Bessa R and R3A

Lens:
35mm f/2.5 Skopar
40mm f/1.4 Nokton SC
50mm f/2.5 Skopar

Filters:
UV
Heliopan Yellow/Green 11
B + W Yellow 8

Film:
Ilford HP5+
assorted Fuji color film (can't remember off the top of my head )

A list of stuff to get me started.

Filter:
B+W Red 25
B+W yellow/orange 16

FLash:
SunPak 440

Diffuser:
Gary Fong Whale tale
Whale Tale flash kit (gels and what not)
A white shirt or white card as a reflector if needed.

Extras:
Bogen cable release w/ remote

Anyone got any suggestions? I've got about a month before I need the kit put together for the project I have in mind.

Just one suggestion ´cause I agree with Sitemistic:

Think about a longer lens like a 75 or 90mm VC or - more expensive - Leica.

A variety. Mostly posed outdoors but some I have planned in an old rail road station and it's got some dark areas that are nice for some shots I have planned but I'm looking to use a fash to brighten it up a bit for a few.

I'm also shooting spoof sporting portraits for a few of my friends, but that is only a fun project my friends and I are putting together.

I nomraly shoot landscape and street and I've been thinking of getting into portraits to broaden my horizon.

For Portrait, depending on the stlye you are after, I would either take the 35mm or get a 75 (90 is to long for me). The 75 for more or less formal one, the 35mm when you want to include some of the eviroment, people at work or so. For that reason, I got myself the 35mm 🙂 I like to show the things around the person. But check if you don't want to get the 35/1,7, at least over here the price difference is marginal, and its 1 stop faster.

FIlters I stick to a yellow one, but looking forward to find a orange one, something between red and yellow.

Filmwise I prefer APX 100, when I have the light or TriX, when I have non, but got good results with other films too.

And personally, forget flashes and use natural light 😀
