It will work, but you shouldn't collapse it too far, as it will hit body parts inside. With my Industar-22 I put a 3mm wide rubber band around the barrel, that was enough to prevent it from collapsing too far.
Open the camera back.
Set the camera for a time exposure so that the blinds open.
Carefully attach the lens in its extended position and watch if it is about to hit anything vital.
Even more carefully collapse the lens into the body and watch even more carefully. I guess it wont collapse all the way before it fouls something.
I read somewhere a strip of tape round the barrel to stop it collapsing into the body too far is a realistic solution - the lens will collapse so far and not too far. Someone out here will be able to say how wide a piece of tape to use.
