bessa r alignement

At infinity everything looks fine when i focus. But at close focus, say 0.9mtr, vertical alignement can be good but the horizontal is out. Only for a millimeter (or two) but it's out.

Is this normal or do i need an alignement?

Not normal. If you mostly shoot subjects at close range then it follows that you want to calibrate your VF to be accurate for that distance rather than having the VF patches line up at infinity.

FWIW Misaligned vertical rf is an annoyance one can live with but horizontal misalignment is a deal breaker.

I worked on a R3A at the time. Just about anyone can do the adjustment if they're comfortable around tools and have the patience to work systematically.

Once you get the hotshoe off, note the position of the slot in the horizontal adjustment screw and the orientation of your screwdriver. Take pictures with a digicam if you can. Then establish a cycle of making tiny but consistent adjustments and checking focus after each adjustment. E.g 1/8th turn clockwise, no good, get back to the starting position, 1/8th turn anticlockwise, better, another 1/8th turn...etc.

Have you confirmed this with test shots? Or judged only by scale? The scale and RF might differ and also depend on the lens (e.g. the Jupiter 8 diffres from Leica standard).
Your camera might be OK but the lens does not fulfil the standard the RF was calibrated to. In this case you could match them but will be off again with another lens.

Depends on whether the focal plane or the patch is meant...

I just use one lens, the 35 f2.5 skopar and never noticed it this bad before. It is very difficult to focus now at close range. Any horizontal is off, so focusing on someone's glasses is easy but a pair of eyes are very difficult.
