My Bessa R is now some 3 years old and after initial lightmetering problems in the warranty period, it was returned to me after some back and forth travel between the US/Brittain/Australia with some vertical finder error.
The Head Bartender (THB) sugested that, rather than sending it across the seas yet again with the possibility that it would come back with the same problem, that I look here and find out what to do to adjust it myself.
I did, successfully. Thanks THB.
I have just returned from 2+ months on the road round Europe via many airyplanes and with the camera in the boot of several cars and can report that the rangefinder is still spot on. I didn't know because the only lens I took was the Snapshot-Scopar 25/4 and the finder isn't coupled. When I put in the Prime lens tonight everything is as it was - in register. No problem.
I was ready, screwdriver in hand, to re-adjust the finder, all in vain. The camera wasn't treated any differently to any other piece of luggage.
I am prompted to post this to ask what it can be that upsets the mechanism so easily, apparently, in the post etc.
I can conclude, perhaps, that the postal services of the world are at best 'rough' or worse. If you drop it you can hardly blame the camera.
Complaints that the rangefinder is susceptible to minor knocks I will now take 'cum grano salis'. It must be put out of adjustment only with hard knocks.
