Greetings,

Just got my new Bessa R in the mail yesterday (the Cameraquest deal with a 35mm f2.5) and am happy with it, VERY happy. There is only one issue though and I wonder if anyone else had dealt with it. Under low light and low contrast situations sometimes I lose the RF patch. I'm used to using Kiev 4 cameras and never lose the RF patch. Has anyone ever tried to add a filter or something to add color to the RF patch? I'm used to having a yellow RF patch.

I've had this problem occasionally usually low light, low contrast and close up. Often its because I'm either too close to the subject or I've inadvertantly put my finger over the RF hole while shooting vertically -It can also happen if my eye is lined up at an angle to the viewfinder. Normally I just take my eye away from the camera take a deep breath and recompose -everything is usually back to normal.

I find that if I press my eye againts the finder, the patch tends to disapear. Keep your eye ceneterd on the viewfinder and all will be well. Congrats on your purchase, you will be very happy with it, I know I am.

I did some shooting with the new R today and found that I was losing the RF patch when moving around. I realized what you folks were saying, one has to look dead on at the RF patch. I'm used to less finicky finders, like on the Kiev/Contax type cameras. Of course the Bessa VF is MUCH nicer...so large, clean and bright.

I'm so HAPPY with this camera. This is the first truly new camera that I've bought in over 20 years. It isn't as hefty or have that quality "feel" that the older cameras have, but it works well.
