I purchased a Bessa R and have been using a Canon 1.8-50 on it and the exposures and the results are great. Yesterday I received a Voigtlander 1.5-50 and the first roll doesn't measure up but maybe there was too much exposure and they didn't come out as good. I was taking photos in direct sunlight.

What I am worried about is the exposure light that comes on for 10 seconds and then at times I can't get it come on for 25 seconds again for another photo. Is this natural or maybe it has a short. Tonight I am going to clean out the battery compartment and see if that makes a difference. Any ideas as to what is happening?

In direct sun, lightmeters are often tricked into underexposure if you're using print film (as opposed to slides). Make a conscious effort to expose for the shadows, and let the exposure lattitude of the film take care of the highlights.

Sounds to me like the battery is on the brink of exhaustion and has trouble charging the light meter circuit..
