hi, I got an used Bessa R2, it's in good shape but I think it has some meter problem. the seller says that it's normal, that the meter is very slow.. in my opinion it remains stuck rather than slow..: I made two video of it: it.youtube.com/watch?v=oWMEFJvJTUo it.youtube.com/watch?v=41wNK6OSC9s in practice: when i turn the diaphgram wheel from f22 to the desidered diaphgram number the read is ok: first it says the photo will be underexposed, then turning the wheel the meter says the read is correct. but if I open too much the diaphgram and then I close it a little bit the light with the minus remains "stuck" lighted also when the center circular light (correct exposure) is lighted. disclamer: - i tested it in a place with light and i didn't used values the meter cannot read (such as under 1/30 with iso 3200). i dunno if it is ok or not.. thank you very much in advance. Matteo

My R2 seems fine. It does light both the centre and either of the outer LEDs if the aperture is finely adjusted. I believe that this shows that the reading is within 1/2 stop of centre only.
Does your respond to changes in light (outside)? Looking at your PC screen may well give odd results as the screen is being scanned. Best take it out and try it in daylight.

Also, as I discovered, the light meter response shows up sloppy backlash in the lens aperture adjustment, so that a particular f-stop reading can give a different meter reading according to which direction on the dial you approached it from. This was very clear on my Jupiter 8s, where only very small movements of the aperture scale produced big changes in aperture nearing the f22 end.

Dave..

I made tried it in daylight but it has the same behaviour.

I took a decision: i'll keep the bessa R2,
i bought an external exposimeter, wayyyyy long much precise than the bessa's one.

in the end, the body (potographically talking) is only an "adapter" to connect the film and the lens.

i can use the bessa as is now.

(and maybe get it repaired for few bucks if i get lucky)

thank you!!
