Hello all

My trusty Bessa r2a is in need of repair. the shutter button normally, when depressed halfway, activates the meter, then fully depressed fires the shutter.

Now, depressing the button it reaches a 'stuck point' where I need to press more firmly to get a meter reading. The amount of pressure now needed almost is identical to the amount of pressure needed to push through all the way and fire the shutter. So accessing this halfway point is very difficult.

Has this happened to anyone else? If so, what is the problem? Who does reliable Bessa repair?

send it to stephen at cameraquest.
or,

is there a competent repair guy close by? my guess is that it's a simple mechanical repair.

My R2A shutter jammed a while ago. Tried fiddling with it myself, but couldn't figure out how to fix the problem (read a lot of threads around the web, too). In the end, had to send to repair and cheapest for me turned out to be KEH repair. Took them ~2 weeks including shipping back, the camera came back working fine, shutter speeds, advance, and everything working properly, though I haven't tested extensively yet.
