Bessa R2S or ... ?

Hi,

I just got myself a Millenium Nikkor. I've ordered an Amedeo Nikon S to Leica M adapter to use it on my M4-2. But now, I'm thinking that I want some on-board metering. I've been considering to get a Leica M6 x0.85, but it's out of my price range for now.

I've been thinking of getting a Bessa R2S to use it for now and later I would get the M6. Uncluttered VF, metering, back-door film loading are the main advantages that I see on the R2S. I also like the 'à la' SP big window and that chrome rewind crank. The Millenium Nikkor is my only RF lens left. Maybe, I should just be getting the R3M and use it with my Amedeo adapter?

For what I see, people are not really enjoying the R2S. Anybody likes it?

I have the R2S and I tend to use it with the slower films as it requires less "brain work" for exposures. With 400 film, "sunny F 16" works after decades of doing it - but having to "rethink" exposures tend to slow me down.
Cameraquest has that great deal with a R2S and the 50f3.5 Heliar. It is a great deal, as you get a stunning performer for slow film with the that lens and the "low light" special with the Millennium 50! Later you can add a 35/85 combination anyway.
The R2S finder is about as good as it gets with a Nikon Rf camera. Less cluttered than the SP and the added bonus of built in metering.

If you want a light meter in your camera, it's your only choice.

Like Tom And Nikon Kiu point out the R2S with the Heliar Lens available from the Bar Tender is a great deal.

If you have already bought the Amedeo Adapter, a used Bessa R2 is also possible. Might cost a bit less, and takes M-Mount lenses.

Otherwise, you will probably want to sell the Adapter- usually means a loss on it.

Thank you all for your inputs. The Bessas are indeed fine cameras. I prefer the look of the R2S over the R2A/M. I guess I'll give the R2S a try!
