Hi all!

Just purchased a brand new Bessa R3A with a 40mm nokton, and to my surprise the camera body didn't come with a user manual (the lens did). I would like to know if this is normal, and if not, is there somewhere I can download the manual online?

Thanks a bunch.

I got an Instruction Manual with my R3A, about six months ago. It's in five languages and also covers the R2A.
Me too... just a couple of days ago....

I got a manual with my R2A as well. Did you buy it from a Voightlander distributor or grey market? Was it demo or new old stock (NOS) or anything? Heck, maybe it was just plain left out. Those are the possibilities I can think of offhand. I'm sure someone wouldn't mind copying theirs if you want to go that route.. I'd be happy to.

Hey, thanks for all the replies. I got the R3A from an official Voigtländer dealer here in Paris; however he opened the box in front of me to write down the camera's serial number for warranty; maybe he forgot to put the manual back in the box.

Since the dealer's on the other side of the city it might be a while until I muster the courage to drive back there. Anyway, I've got the controls mostly figured out, but I wouldn't mind a copy of the manual if someone would be so kind.

Also, I'm wondering about two buttons still: the one on the left side of the body, a circular metallic button (?) with a black cap, right below the film rewind lever; and a circular metallic button on the back of the body right under the film advance lever. Could anyone tell me what those are for?

Was there anything in particular you wanted to know how to do? It's a pretty simple camera to use, I find.

Gueorgui -- I think (I don't have the camera in front of me) the button on the left with the cap is the flash connection. The button on the back below the rewind lever is the autoexposure lock -- push that in to hold the exposure when in automatic exposure mode.

Ask the shop to mail you the manual if it was left there. It's small enough to fit in a standard envelope, and certainly better than driving across Paris!

I agree with KoNickon above about your two mystery buttons.

That metallic button below the film advance is an exposure lock. You have to press and hold to lock the exposure level. The other one escapes me at the moment. I'm at work so don't have it in front of me. I PM'd you about the manual.

EDIT: Oops, my typing is too slow! Redundant info..

To open the back the little lever by the rewind knob needs to be held back before you can lift the rewind, and then it opens.

Hello,

Sorry for raising this thread form the dead, but I have the same problem. I've just bought a used R3A, and don't have the instruciton booklet. If anyone has a scanned version of it, I would happily take it.

Thanks for your attention,

Courtney

Hi, I am in the same boat as Courtney. Just won an auction for a R3A (and a separate one for the 40mm Nokton). THe seller informed me that he does not have the manual. As I am new to RF photography, I think I would benefit from it. If anyone has a scanned copy or would be willing to mail me one, I would really appreciate it.

Thanks.

Hi all

I have scanned the English section of the R2A/R3A manual as separate jpgs, but because of the dimensions cannot attach them. Please pm me and I will try to email them to you - either as individual jpgs or as a large pdf (just depends on what I can do).

Forgot about the gallery option! Have uploaded the first 5 of 13 jpgs. Will add the rest over the next 2 days - apparently there is a limit of 5 per day. Check the galleries under mercedes_sl1970 or this link:

Offer to email still stands.
