Some of you have possibly done this but I thought I'd share just in case.
I love the 1:1 viewfinder on the Bessa R3M but was always wishing I could have a clear 40mm frameline view without the 90mm framelines hovering in the middle of the picture. While playing with insulation tape to blackout the white lettering on the camera I had the below idea which worked like a charm.
I used black insulation tape to cut a small square and attached it to the middle of the frame illumination window leaving only the outer edges of it exposed. This effectively blacked out the inner 90mm framelines while leaving the 40mm lines bright as before. You may have to experiment with the size to get it just right. Depending on the tape you may have to use more than one layer to ensure blackout even in strong light, in my case two layers were sufficient.
I imagine this could work to blackout any framelines on any rangefinder that are sufficiently far apart from each other.
