Bessa Shutter Origins?

Just loaded film into my recently aquired R and noticed that the shutter is remarkably similar to the one found in my Canon t70.

I know that the Canon T series all share the same metal shutter curtain that opens vertically. I also learned that the T60, released in the 90's, was built by Cosina for Canon. It was a low end camera that was the last of the T family. I have attached an image of that below. Notice that the plastic resembles the application on the Bessa R.

Same designer/engineers at work? Also see the T90 illustration, in part of the cutaway there's the shutter.

The shutter is the Copal Square, and it is not new - been around for awhile. Personally, I prefer it to the horizontal-running cloth focal plane shutter.
