hello everybody,

can i use two (or 3) off-camera flashes with the bessa r2a/r4a?

what would that flashes be?

can i trigger them wireless?

I want to use a digital camera to do the test shots and then shoot with the bessa with the same setup.

for the flashes i'm thinking sb 800 or sb 28

thanks

Bessa can trigger a Pocket Wizard or similar device through its hot shoe or PC connection just as described on the Strobist blog with DSLR's. The Pocket Wizard can trigger any number other Pocket Wizard connected to flash units.

Or you may use a long pc cable and an adapter that will allow the PC port to trigger more flashes.

The kind of flash doesn't matter so much as long it can be triggered by your wireless setup.

Bessa's aren't made for any dedicated flash system. So no matter what you have, your flash has to support non-dedicated use to be used with a Bessa.

Of course you can trigger off camera flashes from a bessa. You need a remote trigger on the hot shoe and receivers on the flashes. I don't recommend to use cables because it is likely that someone stumbles over the cable and the flash crashes down (I killed a flash with that). Now I have an Elinchrom sender and one receiver for the flash. The second flash is triggered with cheap foto cell when the first flash fires. On the strobist blog you will find a discussion about different triggers. Don't know if you need a Pocket Wizard, because it's the most expensive trigger you can buy.
Using a digital camera for test shots is a very good idea. Unless you have a lot of experience with off camera flash you will probably need time and test shots to find the right lighting setup.
