Great travel package
I was surprised that it fits the Bessa (deluxe) ERC with the hood on, which is great because it means I can leave that very annoying lens cap off. Historically the fast 40 has always been considered to be the ultimate travel lens and to get f/1.4 in such a compact package is an added bonus. Cover your day on holiday from dawn to dusk, interior to exterior all with one camera/lens.
Can't see that lens leaving that body much from now on

Hardly a coincidence that so many fixed lens RF cameras were made with lenses around 40 or 45. In general, though, they were half a stop or a stop slower than f/1.4: but they had finders built in.

The Nokton 40 is "on my list" ... not immediate future, but it's on the list.
One of the reasons I love the Oly 35SP is the 42/1.7 that's stuck on the front. Fast enough, especially for the size. I'd love it to be a bit faster (howze about f1.2 ...yowza!) but I'll gladly enjoy what is, not dream about what isn't.

My 40mm Nokton's Two Homes
The Bessa "T" and the Nokton 40 have been a favorite of mine for a quite a while and great for traveling as previously mentioned. Although the 40mm viewfinder can be an issue in my F6 bag. My Nokton has recently found a new home on my RD-1. It was suggested that this image was over-the-top "camera porn" once but still a very useable personal favorite combination for me.

Just a hint: the 35mm framelines of the CV minifinder are REAL close
to 40mm. And then, the T + 28/1.9 work real well together too ....
Earl, I really like my newly acquired SP. But it is bigger than CLE + 40/1.4
Cheers,
Roland.

Roland,
Thanks for the VF tip. I'm not surprised as the 35mm frame lines, (FoV), on the RD-1 work very well for me with the 40mm on it.

Your picture made me wonder; doesn't the lens shade block the RF windows?Burkey said:The Bessa "T" and the Nokton 40 have been a favorite of mine for a quite a while and great for traveling as previously mentioned. Roland: Yeah, it is. I haven't had the opportunity to use a CL(E), but I found the more I used the SP the better I liked how it handled. YMMV. Not that I'd say no to a CL w/Nokton 40.

Yes it does, just a little. Still useable though (just tested it)
