Hi,

while adjusting the Bessa R rangefinder a couple of days ago I thought it would probably be easier to do with the top cover removed because I suspect close focus to be slightly off (and because I wanted to fix the screws in place using nail varnish, but I didn't want to pour nail varnish through the holes under the hot shoe).

But how do I get the thing off?

So far I see:
  • four screws (two holding the front plate with the mount, one at the back, one holding the VF window in place)
  • the shutter speed knob: use a two-pronged screwdriver to take out the center screw
  • the hot shoe (easy to take off)
  • the rewind lever
  • the frameline selector
  • the fold-out rewind crank - do I have to take this off at all? It should fit through the hole in the top cover.

I'm in the dark how to remove the rewind lever and frameline selectors. Can anyone who had his Bessa open enlighten me?

Philipp

I can't help I'm afraid but it would be good if you could photograph the process and publish the sequence. Perhaps we could start a self help sticky for Bessas a bit like the one on the Epson forum.
