Hi Ted-- Glad to help! I still dig my Argus C-44 though. It isn't a stealth camera. The looks alone garner attention. Especially since I "Flitzed" it. I think I should have a 57 Chevy Nomad to go with it.
They are neat pieces of machinery. I wouldn't give up on considering one. Besides, with the exception of the lenses, they are American. Not a Jingoist here, but man, it's like a 50's GM machine. Nice Iron. I was lucky, mine was mostly clean, with the exception of a slight yellowing film all over it. Ronsonol helped there to.
Happy to hear you unloaded the snub nose... I can see the explanation to the family regarding the bullet holes in the drywall or plaster.
To me, the Argus C-44 "CLACK!" is part of it's charm. My Canon T70 takes the cake for noise, still. It has the Cosina metal shutter plus a big slappy mirror and a built in winder thingy. Firing that puppy is like being at a cheezy disco in the 80's with Duran Duran's "Girls on Film" blaring all about you.
