What's the best affordable hood for this lens? I have the 43mm hood from the CV 40/1.4 on for now, but am looking for something a bit more cylindrical in 43mm from heavystar or other source, not wanting to pay the big prices of the factory one just yet. Thanks for any suggestions. I have a B&W MRC thick filter on with threads, but don't mind removing the filter if a decent hood can stay attached.

I have a "V2" E43, 1m min. focus. Anyone know the range of the "V3" pre-asph serial numbers? I've seen up to a 2628xxx still being a V2 E43/1m.

The black paint Waltz 43mm Nikkor 50/1.4 hood works well on the Leica 50/1.4 E43 and is smaller than the standard clip on type 12586 and more compact than the VC LH-6.

Thanks Peter and Shac: Peter, I think I am using the same right now, it is the mini hood off the front of a CV 40/1.4 that screws in.

Shac - The heavystar one is for either normal or tele, the wides flare out more like the factory one, or if you note the heavystar line, they usually offer a "wide" version and a normal one, where the "wide" ones kind of angle out like the old Nikon HN-3s, etc. and like the original expensive Leica one.

Of course, the Leica hood designs are not perfect, lots of examples, including LHSA articles where the specific designs let light patterns in that rect. hoods, or different angles would have blocked.
