Best Bang for Buck Modern RF?

I think I recall hearing that the Contax G series was discontinued, which may account for the bargain prices. They certainly are well made little jewels. A friend loaned me one for a day, but at that time they were quite expensive (at least for me) so I "settled" for the Bessa R and 35/2.5 kit from camerquest and have very pleasantly surprised. I'd go against the majority here and opt for the Bessa kit. After all, you're getting a brand new camera with a meter and a wonderful lens.

I say go with the R & 35. Great, fast combination that's cheap enough to not worry about it being with you all the time!

I bagged a Bronica RF645 with a 65mm lens, new, from KEH for just under $1,000. But there is a $450 rebate available, so all-in, I got the camera and lense for about $550. IMHO, that really is excellent bang for the buck.

What are the advantages of Contax G over Bessa R?

The Contax G has better build quality. After that the differences are in features, not so much which is better.

The Contax G is a battery-dependent, autofocus camera which takes only its own Zeiss lenses.

The Bessa R is a mechanical, all-manual camera which uses lenses by several manufacturers in Leica Thread Mount (LTM).
