Best body for 28/50 combo?

um, perspective is not a function of magnification at all. this is why it makes no difference whether you're looking through a rangefinder's built-in viewfinder, an accessory viewfinder, or some kind of ttl viewfinder.

Well then I'm using the wrong word. Sorry for causing any confusion. But it very much does matter what viewing device you're using. An accessory finder or an SLR will give you a much more accurate representation of the image a wide-angle lens will put on film than will an RF viewfinder, which is the point I'm trying to make. The Hexar RF, for example, has enough space in the finder to cover the 24mm FOV, but does a lousy job of conveying the "look" of that focal length.

I don't find this to be the case. I only find the angle of view is poorly shown then the finder is cramped such as 28mm on a 0.72. On a 0.58, because you can see the lines at a glance so easily, it feels more like 28mm. also bear in mind the lines are conservative at normal shooting distance so it could be that the lines are more accurate for 30 or 31mm at normal shooting distances of 5m say. It is also hard to get a feel for teh FL is the framelines are small in the window. the 50mm on a 0.72 M feels like a tele, but when you view thru a 0.85, hey presto, it feels kinda normal as the lines are not a small rectangle viewed from afar so to speak. So... internal viewfinders on RFs give the most intuitive feel when the lines are close to the edge, but not cramped, so 35mm on a 0.72, 28 on 0.58 and 50mm on an M3/0.85.

I don't wear glasses, but I find the 0.72 finders fine with a 28mm. I don't go for perfect framing though. I frame my subjects with at about 90-95% of what I want and let the rest go where it goes. I mean, the framing will never be 100% accurate...
